History or description: Joseph Whieldon Barks was born in 1857 in Ipstones, Staffordshire. He worked as a builder and contractor as well as a stonemason. His son Thomas William Barks (born c.1883) was a joiner and builder's clerk, presumably working for the family business. Joseph died on 5 March 1932 by which time he was living at Brookhouse Farm, Ipstones. His estate was valued at £1,862. 0. 8d.
