Panicali Brothers
Other names: U. Panicali and Brothers
Active: 1890 - 1931
Function: Plaster figure makers, modellers
History or description: Umiliano Panicali (c.1859-1917) and his younger brother, Guglielmo (born c.1862) from Treppignano in Italy founded the Panicali Brothers firm in Birmingham c.1890. The brothers employed a series of younger or more junior assistants as casters, cleaners and sellers. Although loosely based on the traditional pattern of a padrone (Umiliano) the business differed from these by operating from a static location over a period of more than forty years. There are more details about the partners and employees in their individual records.
