The Artist-Craftmen's Group
Other names: Craftsman's Group, The Modern Group of Artist-Craftsmen
Foundation date: March 1925 (Presumed)
Active: 1925 - 1927
Function: Art club
Policy: The foreword to the first exhibition catalogue describes the purpose of the exhibition: 'Recently Birmingham has been severely criticised for its lack of interest in modern art. Perhaps Birmingham is not really less appreciative than other cities, but, for various reasons, has had fewer opportunities of examining and studying examples of the work of the younger artists. The collection now exhibited affords such an opportunity, and it is hard to believe that it will be neglected.' 'Foreword' written by Bache Matthews, 1925.
Rules: It appears that membership to the group was necessary to participate in exhibitions.
Publications: exhibition catalogues
Benefits: eligible for exhibition
Composition: professional artists, professional sculptors
