History or description: A highly successful firm of architectural sculptors, wood and stone carvers established by William Aumonier Senior (1839-1914). By 1881 the firm was employing four men and one boy. William Aumonier Junior (1869-1943) joined the business before 1891 and took it over after his father's death in 1914. He in turn was joined by his son, William Whitworth Aumonier (born c.1897).
Important commissions by the Aumonier firm include the New Victoria Law Courts, Birmingham (1886) and Bath Municipal Buildings (1891). They also executed wood carvings for the steamships 'Austral' and 'Ophir'.
