History or description: "Bayliss, Jones and Bayliss was founded by William Bayliss in 1826. He established the firm in Cable Street, Wolverhampton. The premises were named the Victoria works and a small rolling mill foundry was installed. His brother Moses, a nut and bolt maker from Darlaston, joined the venture and the merged companies became known as W & M Bayliss. In 1859, Edwin Jones, an iron trader from south Wales, joined them making the company Bayliss, Jones & Bayliss Ltd. The company were best known for their fences and gates, but they also produced an enormous range of other metalwork. In 1922 the GKN Group of Companies negotiated the purchase of Bayliss, Jones & Bayliss Ltd. As a subsidiary of GKN, the company kept its own name and the Bayliss family continued manage the concern. By 1953 the firm employed about 1,500 people. The firm kept its name until 1968."
