John Ayres Hatfield

Function: Ormolu and bronze manufacturer, artist in bronze
History or description: John Ayres Hatfield established a firm of art metal workers in London in the 1840s, and supplied the Art Union with bronze statuettes. He founded his company in 1844, referring to himself as an 'Artist in bronze' and 'bronzist.' From about 1851 he added ormolu manufacturer to the description of his business. His workshop was at 20 Cumberland Street in the London parish of St. Pancras and he lived nearby (probably opposite) at number 21. (See further details in personal entry for Hatfield)
