Sanders & Co
Other names: John James Sanders, J.J. Sanders
Active: 1841 - 1895
Function: Statuary, stone mason, marble mason, sculptor
History or description: The firm was founded by John James (born in Lambeth, London c.1801). He is probably the J.J. Sanders listed in Roscoe (2009). John's son, Charles (born c.1825 in St Giles, Middlesex) worked in the family business from about 1841 and took it over at this father's retirement and death in 1867. It has not been possible to trace Charles in the census returns after he took over his father's business. However the firm continued at the same address until c.1900. The firm was probably responsible for the memorial to Princess Caroline Murat on the exterior of the nave at All Saints, Ringsfield, Suffolk, 1902.
