Bernasconi and Riddell
1851
Function: Architectural modeller
History or description: One of the partners seems to have been George Bernasconi (born c.1801 in Pimlico, see individual entry). The other partner was David Riddell (born c.1800 in Scotland) and listed in the 1851 Census Returns at 28 Alfred Street and as a 'Plasterer Master of 16 Men'. It is likely that this business was connected either through George Bernasconi or David Riddell (or both) to the highly successful architectural modelling and stucco business run by Francis Bernasconi (1762-1841) in Alfred Place, round the corner from Chenies Street and close to David Riddell's home address.
