'The great part played by the Self-governing Dominions in the world conflict suggests the necessity of some permanent Memorial in the Mother City of the Empire, not only to preserve in a "Capo Santo" the names and monuments of those sons who have given their lives for freedom and justice, but also to provide a place for gatherings and anniversaries of a national character.
This Model shows a possible scheme for such a Memorial' (1916 ACES exhibition catalogue, p. 269).
