Description: A young damsel is attempting to extract from her plump hand a thorn which an ungrateful blackberry bramble had embedded. The blackberries, in white plaster, lie at her feet.
Notes: Quotation listed in catalogue: 'The guarded sweets you seek, fair maid, / Were better far forborne; / Yet well, if through life's briary path, / Time brings no keener thorn.'
