Description: William LLewellyn (Past President of the RA in 1939) presented the idea of 'a comprehensive exhibit of Scottish Art in London' to the Council of the Royal Academy, who invited Stanley Cursiter, Director of the National Gallery of Scotland, and Sir Jamescaw, the previous Director, to prepare a scheme.
The exhibit was created in partnership with the Trustees of the National Galleries of Scotland and private owners.
The exhibition comprised mostly of paintings and sculpture, with some examples of furniture, architecture, silver, pewter, textiles, books, drawings and prints.
Policy: To admire and study 'the achievements of Scottish Artists through the last three centuries.'
Display Arrangement: Sculpture in Central Hall and dispersed throughout.
