Description: 'The galleries are thrown open to the public (free), and a gratuitous catalogue provided by the Committee during the last four Sundays of the year. Number of visitors admitted, 19,425' (Year's Art, 1890, pp. 120-21).
Policy: 'The regulations for exhibitors are the usual ones. Commission on sales, 5 per cent. London agents: Messrs. Dicksee & Co., King Street, S.W. All letters respecting the Exhibition are to be addressed to Mr. William Stanfield, Curator, the City Art Gallery, Manchester. [...] The sum of £2,000 per annum, with the net profits arising from exhibitions, is available for purchase of works of Art for the permanent collection' (Year's Art, 1890, pp. 120-21).
