Policy: 'The present Exhibition of work by Manchester Artists, which is arranged in Rooms 6, 7, 8 and 9, constitutes the Art Gallery's contribution to Civic Week. The majority of the exhibits consist of work selected from the contributions of artists who are members of established Art Societies in Manchester, or who are working within 20 miles of the City. Portraits of well-known Manchester citizens, whether painted by Manchester artists or not, have also been included, and a number of paintings and drawings by Manchester artists have been transferred from the Permanent Collection to the Exhibition. Works which it was not found practicable to include in the four rooms devoted to the Exhibition are arranged in the other rooms and on the Balcony as indicated in the catalogue [...]'.
