Leeds City Art Gallery, The Spring Exhibition, 1891
End Date: 1891 (Presumed)
Type: Annual exhibition
Description: 'Recitals of music are given in the Central Court twice a week during the special exhibitions, and prove a great attraction. The upper floor, in which the special exhibitions are held, consists of five extensive rooms, and a couple of balconies overlooking the Central Court. The galleries are all lighted from the roof, and at night by electricity. Since the opening there have been three Artists' Exhibitions, and two exhibitions of works on loan. These were of a high standard of excellence, and were visited by over 233,000 people' (Year's Art, 1892, p. 173).
