Description: The RSA approached firms and individuals to offer additional prizes. In the first competition over £1000 worth of prizes and travelling scholarships were offered. Selected designs were exhibited in London. There were ten competitions, and 10,269 competitors. £11,550 was awarded in prizes throughout the course of the awards.
The prize was dissolved in 1934 owing to financial difficulties at the RSA.
Policy: An annual competition, the suggestion of Sir Frank Warner (silk manufacturer), organised to give support to young designers.
