Description: The Royal Geographical Society approached the Royal Society of British Sculptors in 1951 concerning a proposed statue 'to' David Livingstone. The R.B.S. Advisory Committee nominated names of sculptors and submitted photographs of their works, and from these the R.G.S. asked T. B. Huxley-Jones and J. Wedgwood to 'prepare models for consideration.
