Policy: The Royal Society of British Sculptors 'Annual Report, 1939', (1940) describes the exhibition as follows:
'An exhibition was held at the Royal Academy to which all artists affiliated to Art Societies were invited to exhibit. It was considered that your Society [the R.B.S.] was well represented at this Exhibition and it is hoped that the financial result will benefit both the artists concerned as well as the Red Cross Fund and the A.G.B.I. for whose benefit the Exhibition was largely organised'.
