Description: The memorial panel was designed by C. L. Hartwell, and was unveiled on the 24 October 1932.
Hartwell executed the memorial at a 'nominal charge' and the balance from the subscriptions for the memorial was given to the Artists' General Benevolent Institution.
Policy: The Royal Society of British Sculptors' 'Annual Report, 1931' (1932), notes that the Society had arranged for the erection in St Paul's Cathedral of a Memorial to Thornycroft. The costs of the Memorial were raised by voluntary subscriptions from members of the society, and the sculptors 'other admirers'.
