Policy: The Royal Society of British Sculptors sent a design to Folkestone Council for a war memorial. The design was not approved, and the local committee asked the Council to organise a competition for the memorial at a cost of £2,000. The fee paid for the memorial was ultimately increased to £3,000. The Folkestone Committee 'expressed high appreciation of the design chosen' (see 'Annual Report', 1920, p. 8).
