Policy: The full details of the scholarship fund bequest are outlined in the Royal Academy, 'Annual Report, 1946', 1947, p. 67.
The following are extracts from the bequest:
'That the scholarships shall be open to advanced students from Great Britain and Northern Ireland and of the Dominions (including Rhodesia and Kenya) of the British Commonwealth for the purpose of fostering intercollaboration between the three arts of architecture, sculpture, painting and the fourth art of poetic literature'.
'That the first scholarship shall be awarded as soon as possible after my death to an architect by the use of enough capital at the commencement without waiting til interest has accrued; then in the second year after my death to a sculptor; in the fourth year to a painter and in the sixth year to a student of poetic literature and so on in rotation every two years'.
