Description: The exhibition included 171 works of painting, sculpture and engraving.
The society held its first exhibition in Knightsbridge in May 1898. 'As its title implies, the display was cosmopolitan' (The Year's Art, 1899).
Policy: The exhibition catalogue notes that the object of the society is to 'familiarize the public with the principal work that is being done on the Continent and in America, by means of Exhibitions in various Art Centres, and to encourage the development of individual art in the three branches: Sculpture, Painting, and Engraving' [summary].
