Policy: Two awards of £50 were offered to students 'under the control of the Education Committee'. The 'Travelling Scholarship' was 'for the purpose of foreign travel for the study of Design, in particular as applied to articles of Gold, Silver, Bronze or other metals, precious or semi-precious stones or glass' [summary].
The second 'Salesmans' Scholarship' was for students to acquire 'knowledge of the design and method of manufacture of all such things usually sold by Goldsmiths, Silversmiths and Jewellers'[summary].
