During the Easter Rising of 1916, the RHA's premises in Middle Abbey Street was burned down. From 1916 to 1969 the RHA's annual exhibitions were held at the premises of the Metropolitan School of Art in Kildare Street [The MSA became the National College of Art in 1938].
