Description: Entitled 'The Talkies', was 'a diverting satire on the ways and waywardness of the Brethren, and of the world of Art outside the Guild'. The theme and title were suggested by R. P. Gossop and 'worked out and elaborated' by W. Aumonier and collaborators. Aumonier 'our "Flower Girl"' also painted last [fourth] scene. H. Aitken, H. T. Smith, D. Braddell, W. Aumonier, M. Taylor, P. Bentham, L. Mansfield, C. Thomas, H. Nelson, C. D. St Leger, T. Wilson, A. Glover, A. Waters, W. Aumonier and R. Richardson took part in the play. 'The statue of "Night" was constructed and "occupied" by Bro. Cecil Thomas, and might have travelled direct from its position on the St. James' Park Underground Railway Station, enriching itself on the way' (AWG annual report, 1930, p. 4).
