Description: F. G. Dawson, partner of Messrs Robert, Alard and Co., Roofing Contractors, gave a lecture on slate and stone for roof coverings and on tiles and oak shingles (with slides). After the interval, A. H. Powell spoke about thatch, and Troup spoke about lead roofs (with slides). L. A. Turner, M. Chesterton, M. J. Dawson, Sullivan, Winmill and Lofting joined in the discussion. F. G. Dawson replied 'as to the difference of opinion expressed by his namesake concerning the proportions of slates on large and small roofs' (AWG Annual Report, 1923, p. 7).
Policy: 'Meetings are held fortnightly, when papers are read and their subjects illustrated as fully as possible. Visitors must be introduced by a member' (Year's Art, 1913, pp. 169-70).
