Policy: Introductory Note
'The Exhibition of Competitive Works, for which the Eisteddfod Art Committee is responsible, consisting of:- Fine Art, Sculpture, Architecture, Design and Applied Art...'
Introductory Note to Competitive Section (p.50)
'The competitive Exhibition has always been a feature of the Art and Crafts section of the National Esiteddfod but never before has so prominent a place been given to it. Never before has so earnest an attempt been made in our national festival to treat Art as being as important a branch of culture as Literature and Music.
The Exhibition...is a complete justification of the confidence of the Committee that with careful organisation and generous support it could produce an Exhibition far beyond anything that has preceded it in Wales and one which may serve as a starting point for future Eisteddfod progress in Art.
Here are example of all grades of Art work. - ...from the students at the Technical Schools and Schools of Art and from some of the best studios not only in this country but also on the Continent, in the Dominions and in America....
...
I commend the Exhibition to the general public as one which, to be appreciated, needs more than a cursory inspection: it deserves and will repay careful study.'
Display Arrangement: Approximately 1400 works. Mixture of Paintings, works on paper, photographs, sculpture and craft work all mixed together.
