Policy: Originally intended to raise funds to remove the debt from Cardiff Infirmary. However, after assistance from Lord Bute, who paid off all the debt, the proceeds from the exhibition were then applied to the erection of a new building for the Cardiff Free Library, Museum, and Schools of Science and Art.
Approximately 1000 works exhibited including fine art, natural history and 'miscellaneous curiosities'.
