George had trained as a sculptor by the age of 20 (1871), and remained living with his parents for at least another decade, possibly until his marriage to Frances Oldham in 1884. Between 1874 and the early 1900s Holding exhibited regularly at the Royal Manchester Institution, Manchester Art Gallery, and at the Liverpool Autumn Exhibition. During the 1890s he and his family relocated to the Wirral. The date and whereabouts of his death have not yet been confirmed.
