Born in Wrexham, Denbighshire. In early 1904 he offered to execute a statue of Queen Victoria free of charge for Wrexham, if the cost of the materials were to be raised by public subscription. (from a notice in 'The Stone Trades Journal', vol XXI, no. 7, January 1904, p. 150).
