Born in Colwich, near Haywood, Staffordshire sometime between 1825 and 1830. After working in London for almost twenty years, he settled back in Staffordshire and described himself as a sculptor and architect in 1871. However, the mainstay of his practice was a stone masonry and, possibly, architectural sculpture business in Rugeley.
